“Dear old world', she murmured, 'you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book feels like being wrapped up in a blanket with a bowl of warm soup. Although I never read Anne of Green Gables when I was younger, I watched the movie with my grandma every time I visited her. I have so much nostalgia surrounding this story and am so happy I finally read the book. Anne of Green Gables is a beautifully written story about love, appreciating the little things in life, the line between romanticism and social expectation, the transformative bond of friendship and so much more.

This book follows Anne Shirley after being adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, siblings who were under the impression they were adopting a boy. Anne is not what they expected at all; she is hot-tempered and stubborn but also so bright, funny and imaginative. She has a spirit that is infectious to even the coldest of hearts. And we get the delight of watching as everyone who lives in the town of Avonlea is impacted by the little girl with red hair and the biggest imagination.

The way this book is written is absolutely stunning. The sentences are full of luscious description that puts you intimately in the story. My favorite part of this book is the characters and how full of life they are; they will stick with me forever. Anne Shirley is without a doubt my favorite protagonist in existence, I love her so deeply. I think we could all learn so much if we chose to channel our inner Anne. Since reading this book I’ve felt so inspired to live more like her. To feel my emotions to their fullest and see the whimsy in things others find mundane. I love Anne. I love Diana. I love Matthew. I love Marilla. I love this story and all the people in it.
